PARAGRAPHING (Research) ACTIVITY


Be sure to put all the information in your own words. Do not copy and paste from the internet!!


A.   Research the Comanche and the Apache Indians. Provide a brochure or pamphlet (with at least two paragraphs) on your findings. 

B.   Research some of the venomous snakes you would find in the United States and Canada. Provide a brochure (with at least two paragraphs) on your findings.

C.   Research hydrophobia. Where is the disease most prevalent? How is it treated today?  Who is Louis Pasteur? What animals are most likely to contract this disease? Provide a brochure (with at least two paragraphs) on your findings.

D.   Are farm animals still marked or branded today? Check with some local farmers or ranchers? Provide a brochure (with at least two paragraphs) on your findings.


Procedure:

1.    Choose a topic with your partner from A, B, C or D.

2.    Do some research on your topic during your next computer time or at home.

3.    Bring your research to class.

4.    Work on a minimum of two paragraphs for your brochure. Use the hamburger model to build your paragraphs.

Be sure your paragraphs include:


¦ A strong topic/concluding sentence
¦ Supporting details
¦ Transitions between sentences
¦ Proper punctuation

5.    Have a peer edit your paragraph for the above items.

6.    Construct a brochure that displays your information. Your brochure should include at least two pictures and two paragraphs. Be creative! It should be fully coloured and eye-catching!
