Bible-What is Purim?

This coming week we will be looking at the Jewish celebration of Purim.  Today we looked at this video:

We watched it several times, slowing it down and discussing some of the higher level concepts. We will be watching it again throughout the unit as we discuss the some of the essential questions of our unit like:

A: HOW DO I LIVE A FAITHFUL LIFE IN AN UNFAITHFUL CULTURE?

B: WHAT MAKES A GOOD LEADER (KING)?

C: WHY DO WE HAVE DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WAYS?(MYSTERY)

1. Is there such a thing as mere coincidence? Is God really in control when we can’t hear, touch, see, sense Him?
2. How is God’ s providence evident in history? (Jewish people-remnant)
3. Why is God (name of God) absent in the book of Esther? (related to theme of exile)?
4. How do we know God is present? Is God ever absent? (Psalm 139)
5. Why does God use unlikely people in a specific time for his purpose?
